Today the United States spends more money per student on education than any other country. Yet we are 37th to 42nd in math and reading comprehension in the world. How is this possible? It’s possible by the top-down control of schools. The Department of Education in Washington DC needs to be eliminated. Each state has its own department of education which gives 50 different laboratories to work at producing the best education system. Instead of one that dictates one size fits all education. We need competition. Competition to get the best teachers and competition to produce the best schools. We need to go to a voucher system that moves the money to the school of choice the student attends. This will bring competition for the student’s money from schools by offering the best education. We need to also get back to teaching technical skills. College isn’t for everyone. Let’s teach our kids to be successful in life by pushing them in the right direction.
